Day 8: People. And More People.

Man, I'm behind. Seriously. This whole "doing stuff" kind of deal. I'm not used to it. Not. One. Bit. The bags under my eyes are more and more pronounced every day as a result of my sleep. Or lack thereof.

Today we. Uh. We...

We...

Oh c'mon brain. We did something. We *had* to.

Oh.

Okay.

That's right. Family reunion. Small one. On my mom's side.

We also hung out with some old Sequim friends who moved to Utah. One of them being the fabulous Adam. Tall skinny ginger kid. Absolute genius. Great with computers, women, and just about anything you can name. Miss him dearly. Him and I hung out for a while.

A long-ish while, come to think of it. Afterwards we went to my mom's cousin's house, and got to meet some of her kids and grandkids and other relations. It was fun. I have some cool second cousins.

For those of you unfamiliar with blogs and such, I try and avoid using any last names. This is mainly to protect the innocent, but also because I'm hopeless with names. Also, there are people who read my blog that *I* don't even know, so it's safer that way.

(I'm talking about you, unidentified viewers from South Korea.)

It doesn't bug me if you guys read my blog though. More views. Yay.

(Ugh. I'm an odd fellow.)

That's basically all we did.

Basically. I use that word in excess.

I really need to write these the day of.

Quote of the day: "HEY! Plato's closet. I hear they have great looking jeans. At least according to aunt Vicki. And Joey's legs."

I'll be back.

Day 7: Driving

We're leaving today. Heading for Provo, Utah. Gonna be a long day of driving. Breakfast was French Toast. Delicious.

Got packed rather quickly, mainly because I didn't bring as much stuff as is physically possible, (unlike a certain sister I could name).

The trip, at least for me, was mostly spent playing Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Fun game. Started playing it last year, and lost all my progress so I've been putting off playing it until now. Wish I hadn't.

We only stopped once the entire way here. I'm surprised myself. Before we got to my aunt and uncle's house, where we'll be staying, we visited/ate dinner with my dad's cousin Ron and his wife Helen. Pizza and hot dogs. Dinner of champions. The food was actually most excellent indeed, as was their house. A top notch establishment if I do say so myself. Would have loved to stay longer, but we had to get going.

We got here (the house we're staying at) just in time for ice cream, having already had root beer floats at the previous house. This ice cream was made by the same people who made the phenomenal ice cream we had back in Idaho. Super delicious.

We really didn't do much exciting, so I'll just end it for today (yesterday) and work on tomorrow's (today's) entry.

Day 6: Sunday Mullets

It's a sunday. Usually that means sleep, right?

Not if you've got church at 9:00 in the morning.

...

Which I did, in case you didn't guess. Makes staying up 'til midnight risky, but I did it anyway. More games and such. Riotous times were had by all. Some of the family left yesterday. Sadly. We'll be leaving for Utah tomorrow. I think possibly the worst part of that is that I won't get a decent night's sleep.

Ugh.

I really should get more sleep. I'm supposed to somewhere around nine hours of sleep a night. Do I? Not even. It's around four and a half.

That means an average of six hours of sleep, including summers.

Starting since roughly the beginning of freshman year I've missed around 2082 hours of sleep. That's 86 days and 18 hours. Not okay. But then again, I've added that much more to my life. And done nothing with it.

Okay so I counted no less than THREE mullets in church. That's really strange. And that's not a mormon thing. I've NEVER seen anyone with a mullet before, especially not in church. Guess Boise people are weird.

It really creeped me out actually. They weren't nice mullets, on men from that time period. They were gross, poorly made mullets. On kids my age. Yikes. I wish I'd had scissors so I could just trim them off. Walk up and just SNIP! Now you're normal! Now you can talk to women! Now you can be party on both ends, not just party in the back!

I don't know any more.

Spent more time sitting around. No video games. Just the internet.

The internet is the reason for my lack of ever doing anything.

Dinner's lasagna with homemade ice cream. Yum!

I don't know if I've said this but I really, really, really, really, really like lasagna. Like really. It's so good.

Anyway. The ice cream was delicious as well.

That's all for today. Sorry for posting a day late.

[snazzy closing phrase]

Day 5: Ice + Blocks + Hill = Broken Arms

I've become rather spasmodic with my rate of posting. I do enjoy the two-a-day posting, but I feel like doing it every day would invalidate some space-time complex and tear a whole in the temporal universe itself. Not to mention how much more boring this blog would become.

Iceblocking. Iceblocking, Iceblocking, Iceblocking. More on that later.

Spent the night at my aunt's again. Another problem with not posting everyday is that I get my events confused. Mafia was *last* night, not the night before. I'm so embarrassed. Heaven forbid my blog contain inaccurate information. Speaking of inaccurate information, I read Wikipedia's "List Of Common Misconceptions" which can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_common_misconceptions
Useful site. Everyone should read it. Maybe not *all* of it, but quite a lot of it is exceedingly helpful. (Thanks to my friend Daniel for that helpful tip.)
Interesting highlights, bumblebee flight makes perfect science, and science *can* explain it, alcohol doesn't cook out of food entirely, and iron maidens weren't actually a thing.

Breakfast was waffles. Mmmmmmmm... Seriously. These waffles were good enough to Instagram. (Trademark sign, copyright sign, whatever.) Thoroughly enjoyed them, 10/10, would eat again. Weather was great. Sun, hot, but not a scorcher. Clear skies. Who knows, I may even end this trip looking somewhat like a human being that isn't also albino. Probably not.

...Nice breeze.

Really enjoyable actually.

...Where was I?

AH! Iceblocking. See Day 3 for an explanation. (That's day three of *this* trip, not the trans-continental road trip.) SO MUCH FUN. Here's a picture of the hill:

Majestic, if I do say so myself.

The whole thing was fun to go down. Didn't wipe out. I'm proud of myself.
We had pizza for dinner, while at the hill. Pizza Hut and Little Caesar's. Because one restaurant alone can't handle the fifty-some-odd relatives I have. Heh.

No soda though, which saddens me. Oh well. Beggars can't be choosers.

I'm not a beggar so I don't know how that saying applies. It's something my mom would say.

B-b-b-bu-b-b-b-bub-b-b-b-b-b That's all folks!

Day 4: River Rafting and Wild Tiger Wrestling

I guess I'm making up for posting twice in one day. Sorry about not updating yesterday, the day was quite busy!

I slept at my aunt's house, partly because I was sick of the other house's smell and partly because we were playing games and I didn't want to miss out.

The highlight of today (yesterday) was definitely river rafting. ALL the extended family came with. Our goal? Raft down the Boise river. This isn't the first time we've done it. I seem to recall rafting down it a few years ago. Weather was perfect. Warm enough to want the water, but not too hot, so that we could stand being out of the water. My aunt and uncle have this huge fourteen-man inflatable raft which a good deal of the family went in. We only popped two rafts, which is nice. One blew when we tried to over-inflate it, and the other got trashed going through some rapids.

Speaking of rapids, there were only like three decent rapids which we went through, and they were only wild enough to startle the babies. Lame. I'd have like some crazy ones, but apparently my family didn't want any. Halfway down the river I got called over to a smaller raft to hold babies.

I enjoyed it. Partly because the babies were adorable and partly because I didn't have to row! Yay laziness. I almost had the two children fall asleep on me. I don't know if that means I'm comforting or just plain boring. Probably the latter.

You're probably wondering how the ice-blocking went.

Heh.

Funny story.

You know how I was all like "It's gonna be awesome!!" and my parents were all like "We're totally going ice-blocking and NOT staying home because we're tired!!"

Well it's not like that anymore. We stayed home. Moved ice-blocking to Saturday. I'll let ya know how that was when we get there. IF we get there.

That night we stayed up 'til around 1:00 AM playing Mafia, which is a fun game to play with groups, that doesn't require anything but a few pieces of paper and an active imagination. Google it if you're interested.

For the past couple of days, my mom has been coming up to me with those Wiimote holders shaped like golf clubs and such and saying "Look Ben! It's a wee golf club/tennis racket/steering wheel/Australia!" in a mock-Irish accent. Needless to say it stopped being funny on day two. *cough cough* Mother *cough* take a hint *cough cough*.

We also did family photos. My un-photogenic nature came through full force, but we took enough pictures that at least *one* has to come out well...

...Right?

...*sigh*

I just don't look good in print.

That's it for today!

(Today here meaning: Friday, August 2nd, 2013)

Day 3: Two Posts In A Day. Can You Handle It?

Ben's Blog 2: Day 3

Today was definitely a success. Undoubtedly. Absolutely. Undeniably.

Why?

I WENT SHOPPING.

Don't judge.

But yeah, we went thrift shopping. Immense amounts of fun. New clothes. Or at least as new as old clothes can be. I'm fairly happy with what I got, though I didn't find any socks. Oh well.

I'm too tired to count how much stuff I got, but the amount was considerable. A few sweatshirts, a messenger bag, some sweaters and a few other odds and ends. I'm gonna stop talking about clothes because people question me enough already.

Back at my aunt's house we have a few new arrivals. Family from far and near are driving, flying, and taking alternative means of transport to get here for the reunion. Heck, there are even people *I* don't know.

To continue. Dinner was tacos. With the novelty that instead of taco meat, I used pulled pork! Mmmmmm... Weird, yet oddly delicious. I'll have to try it again some time.

Right now we're off to go ice blocking. It's a fun sport. Basically you get really large blocks of ice, find a large hill, sit on the ice, and slide all the way down. It's a rush. More often than not you get butt bruises, but it's worth it.

That's all for tonight.

Catch ya later!

Day 2: In Which Ben Does NOTHING

I really have to get used to this whole "posting every day" thing. It's such an odd phenomenon.

TODAY!
Or rather yesterday.

We uh..

Um....

Shoot. I think we did some things. Or maybe not. I recall there were a lot of video games involved...

WAIT GOT IT!

Okay so we woke up, in the porta-potty-smoker-bomb house, which still smells gross. I didn't get a chance to shower before we were rushed out the door, but that's okay because I'll do it at my aunt's house. I believe today *was* to be the day we went thrift shopping, but unfortunately my parents forgot. No new socks for Ben. [frowny face emote here]

For those who don't know, as of last year, I've developed a taste for argyle socks. (That's the diamond pattern you see on a lot of sweater vests.) The longer the socks, the better. The only problem with this taste is that argyle socks are three times as expensive as normal socks, so I must buy them all secondhand because I'm a broke little son-of-a-gun. So I was looking forward to thrift shopping in Boise, because Sequim's thrift shops are rather lacking in pretty much every department.

Oh well. We'll go tomorrow. (Today? I need to stop writing about yesterday. Today. Augh.)

I'm not gonna lie, the rest of the day was pretty boring. Spent the entire day playing video games with my cousins and playing piano. Aren't I just a ball of thrilling action?

I promise I'll do more exciting stuff tomorrow, and even if I don't, I'll *pretend* I did. I need creative writing practice.

Dinner was baked potatoes with all the fixings. Quite delicious, with corn and watermelon on the side. I had to shuck the corn.

I know, shucks to be me. *Ba-Dum Tssss*

I apologize.

No quote for the day today. Just a lot of kids complaining about losing at video games. After dinner we hung out a while and went to the house where we're staying and had fun playing tag in the dark and screaming our heads off for an hour. Then we played cards.

That's all for today. Yesterday. Today.

Ugh.

Stay classy, San Diego.
